Who is Worthy Enough to be the Next U.S. President?

The three hour CNN debate and how it was ruled by women power.
The CNN presidential republican debate was full of awing moments. But the women took it over as Carla Fiorina was declared the winner of the debate. She showed her shining moment as she wiped the floor with Donald Trump by giving him a comeback on feminism. But in this debate everybody had their shining moments. All the debaters had interesting points of view. The thing most Republican Presidential candidates had in common was that they were in a different page than Mr. Trump. They all turned out to be against him in many different ways.
The winners were announced by CNN and in a specific order. These were the main stars of the show: Carla Fiorina, Marco Rubio, Jeb Bush and Chris Christie. Donald Trump and John Kasich were signaled as unclear winners by CNN.  On the other hand the losers were Rand Paul, Scott Walker, Ben Carson, Mike Huckabee and Ted Cruz.
In the end these were CNN’s results for the presidential republican debate. But you decide who was the actual winner in your eyes.

Same School under New Rule

New principal, new leader, new school, new adventures! The 2015-2016 school year is for students and teachers to start fresh with a clean slate. Escuela Bella Vista MS and HS students and teachers are under a new “reign” under a new queen, Dr. Rosie! Dr. Rosie was born on Pennsylvania and comes from a family who spoke Slovak.
Dr. Rosie, has lived in many interesting places around the world. She lived in Madagascar, Kenya (in a mud house), and is now in Venezuela. She speaks three languages, including English and Da Lou, however she understands Slovak. In addition, she has worked before as an administrator and loves to write and read.
The new principal has set many rules to make the school a better place. Some of those rules are:
Rule
Explanation
Tardy Policy
If you are late 3 times, you get a falta leve.
Afterschool Policy
If you’re parents haven’t picked you up after 3:45 and you are not involved in any after school activities, you have to go to the Academic Office. So, you are not alone in the pickup area without supervision.
Phone Policy
You cannot use your cell phone in school during school hours. Middle school and high school students have to leave it in their lockers; meanwhile seniors (12th grade students) can have it in their backpacks.

We hope Dr. Rosie makes this new school year as interesting as she is!

Journalistic and Political Confrontation

Journalistic anchor and presidential candidate Donald Trump confronted in one of Mr. Trump’s press conferences.
Journalistic anchor Jorge Ramos visited one of Donald Trump’s (candidate for the presidency of the United States) press conferences. After Donald Trump denied, Ramos offer of having an interview by publishing his letter and phone number on the Internet. When Jorge Ramos arrived to the press conference he waited until no one was interfering to ask his question. He tried to ask the question and then one thing led another, they were both yelling at each other and arguing about Trumps government plans. Ramos kept saying that he couldn’t do such preposterous things such as deporting 11 million illegal immigrants from the United States or building a 19,000-mile wall across the border of Mexico to separate both countries. Donald Trump got so angry that he told Ramos to go back to Univision and had some guards escort him out of the conference room. Jorge Ramos says a Trump sympathizer approached him saying, “Get out of my country”. According to Ramos in his 30-years career as a journalist he had never been asked to leave a conference. Later Ramos was granted permission back into the press conference, where he then approached the matter again, interrupting the questions of other reporter. Both men started debating all over again. Jorge Ramos refers to Trump as “dangerous”. And says that Trump is trying to quiet down the voices of his fellow Americans.
This confrontation could decrease the number of votes from Latinos living in the U.S, since Jorge Ramos is one of the most trusted journalistic sources in Latin America. But the thing that has been debated the most is who was right, Trump or Ramos? Sources like Ann Coulter (reporter) say that Ramos was an ethnic activist showing up to protest not to ask a question. So you decide on which side you’re on Jorge Ramos the journalist or Donald Trump the candidate.

Everything around you is mathematics. Everything around you is numbers!

“The only way to learn mathematics is to do mathematics” said Paul Halmos. At Escuela Bella Vista, there is a new middle school math teacher: Ms. Alyssa Strickland.  She teaches grades 6th through 8th in the room 34. She was born and raised in Anoka, Minnesota in the United States of America.

Ms. Strickland always was decided to become a teacher because she says: “Since I was little I played with my little sister and I was always the teacher”. That made her decide and choose what career she wanted to study. In addition, she decided to become a math teacher because she loves teaching others and as a student her favorite subject was math. She has been teaching for three years and began teaching when she was 22 years old. The first grade she taught was sixth grade.

She tries to be as organized as possible. Ms.Strickland’s favorite color is blue and her favorite animal is  the penguin. Her favorite sport are American football and baseball, but she likes to play volleyball. She loves to eat and cook Italian food (including pizza and pasta).

Ms. Strickland loves to travel and has gone to most of the states in the US and Mexico. She really likes jokes, her favorite one is: “What animal has more lives than a cat? A frog it croaks every night…”. Something that she recommends to all EBV students is to read the book Wonder by R. J. Palacio. Ms. Strickland wants all Escuela Bella Vista students to know: “I really like the EBV community and want to stay for at least 2 years”.

New clubs in EBV

New clubs in EBV

If you are thinking of moving to Japan or kill two hours in a Monday there are two new clubs at EBV. The Japanese Club from Thursdays 3:30 - 5:30. Only 15 student were allowed to enter. There you can have fun learning how to talk and write in Japanese and you also learn about the culture of Japan. But don't worry, it’s not a history lesson. Japan is a really weird but interesting country.

Board games clubs are every Monday from 3:30 to 5:30. The first 6 to come to the library get to play some awesome games, no signup. If you just want to see what this club is all about, you can just come right after the bell rings and if you get there fast enough you can play one of a variety of board games Mr. Diaz has on his shelf from group games like Zombicide to Every- Person- For- himself/herself kind of game like Monopoly and Civilization. It is a fun and exciting experience that you should come to see.

MUN: Fight for what you believe in.

“Its where you go to debate things that matter and find solution”. Its Valeria Sanchez’s personal definition of MUN. MUN or Model of the United Nations real definition is: an initiative taken by schools worldwide to try to incorporate the functions of the United Nations into the students lives. MUN has five different committees that are divided in two groups. Rookies committees that are recommended for 9th and 10th grade and Veteran committees that are recommended for 10th and above. The different committees are: United Nations Environment Program, Human Rights Council, Economic and Social Council Plenary, General Assembly, Security Council according to http://munebv.weebly.com/. “This is a community. You travel make friends and it's is good way to find yourself” is another thing miss Ms. Sanchez told us in our interview. She said “This is for people who like to fight and debate”. Her favorite thing about MUN is “watching people showing interest in something and fight for what they believe in”. She started running her position as student representative because “there was nobody who wanted the part and I always asked for it and shown interest”.

Geekin

Warning: The following section is for geeks only. Any trespassers will be attacked viciously by toy lightsabers and tortured by being sucked up into a videogame and forced to play as a frog. Be warned.

Many games don't have its own convention for it, but then again many games aren't minecraft. Minecraft is a game where you get to build your own world out of blocks. No rules, no limits, the only thing that goes on is your imagination.

Minecon is the yearly event that celebrates minecraft. Many youtubers, fans, and staff go there. Most of the time it is just a ton of youtubers surrounded by their fans hoping to get an autograph. This minecon was the biggest one yet, in fact it was the biggest one in all types of games. A world record!

One thing they introduced was story mode, something that got the fans very excited. The commercial for it, was the top rated video of the day on youtube. Another thing they introduced was the release for minecraft: windows 10 edition. Since mojang was sold to microsoft for 3.5 million, this was possible. They also said they were going to update the pocket edition and that you could move easily from computer, to touchscreen, to remote. I guess you could say it will be faster than a speed potion!

An Educational Plan

On August 11, 2015, Hilary Clinton decided to start a campaign called “New College Compact” which helps students handle the expensive cost of colleges, making student loans more available for the student’s benefit.  “College is supposed to help people achieve their dreams, but more and more paying for college actually pushes those dreams further and further out of reach”, said Clinton according to CNN politics.  The total campaign will cost them 350 billion dollars a year according to CNN politics as well, but she stated that with that plan, families will manage to get by a lot easier and students can stop stressing, allowing them to calmly focus on their studies. Hillary Clinton is trying to make the lives of the people in the US a lot less stressful, so that they can stop worrying about working instead of studying. The plan consists of having "no-loan tuition at four-year public colleges and universities." This plan will make college much more affordable for students, and that way they can enjoy a real college experience without having to worry about money for 4 years. Some people feel that this decision will influence her amount of votes in many ways, but we just have to wait for elections and hope for the best.

The light to your dark Wi-Fi problems

Scientists have recently found a new way to use WiFi without the need of routers that sometimes don't even work properly. Such way is using LED light bulbs, for this reason scientists have decided to call it Li-Fi.

Li-fi has the ability to connect to the internet without any harm whatsoever! Li-Fi transmits all of the data faster trough light waves. Even though this only works with devices that have “some sort of optical receiver”, it could still greatly improve how fast the connections are to any device of any sort such as; cars, lights, phones, and work as an internet transmitter as well. This is just the beginning of many great inventions to come. We can see how quick we are evolving into the digital world of technology and technological breakthroughs that can help the human race in ways that we never thought possible. Little by little we are making our mark on this world and evolving no matter what.

Inside Out; a trip through your mind

The life and soul of Riley (Kaitlyn Dias) began when Joy (Amy Poehler) appears on her mind, after followed by the depressing Sadness (Philis Smith), the emotion of Disgust, Anger and lastly Fear. Riley, a happy 11 year old who likes to play hockey and enjoy her time with her best friend Meg, has to face a hard twist to her routine and life; followed by a series of problems. The events are enough to overwhelm her emotions causing Joy and Sadness to go for a trip through the forbidden parts of her mind. Leaving the control panel to Disgust, Fear and Anger have to deal and adapt Riley to her new way of life. During this movie you will observe how your mind works. Every problem Riley faces will be a new challenge to her emotions.

Pixels: video games live

The movie Pixels shows how much damage a misinterpretation of human language into an alien one can do. In the movie humans accidentally send a video game message to aliens. However, entertaining for aliens is different: it means war. The response of aliens is nowhere near pleasant. They responded by turning video game characters into a real pixel monsters causing the apocalypse. The movie of course has its heroes: President Will Cooper (Kevin James), Sam Brenner (Adam Sandler), Ludlow Lamonsoff (Josh Gad), Eddie Plant (Peter Dinklage), and finally Affion Crockett (Michelle Monaghan), who struggles in action. Through the movie you will see as humans fight the classical video games characters such as PacMan, and Donkey Kong. They would get their thumbs back into the game, but just with a little more pressure.

Scientist who teaches biology = Ms. Richards

Science is the investigation and exploration of natural events and of the new information that results from those investigations. Linea Elizabeth Richards also known as Ms. Richards is the new science teacher for middle school and high school. She teaches science and biology to 7th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade. Ms. Richards is from Chicago and she loves to travel. She has gone to places like Palestine, Cape Town, Denmark and Ecuador. She decided to become a teacher working on an educational farm. After university she studied science. Her favorite type of science is biology. Her favorite thing about science is experimenting and dissecting things/animals. When she was a student her favorite class was graphic design. Her favorite animals are goats because she thinks their character is funny. Her favorite hobby is reading and her favorite color is blue. At work she is an organized person, but at home she is not. Ms. Richards speaks English and some Spanish that she learned in Ecuador. This is her first time in Venezuela and she plans to stay at least 2 years in EBV. Her favorite thing about EBV are the students and teachers and her favorite thing about Venezuela is the people and the warm weather. Ms. Richards is looking forward to this year and learning about the culture in Venezuela!

New Rules at EBV

New year, new rules! As the 2015-2016 school year starts, new rules have been applied to Escuela Bella Vista students and teachers. There were two main rules up to debate, the Retakes Policy and the Daily Assessment’s Policy. Last year the rule was that people who scored lower than 81% could retake a major exam, this year it stays the same. You can only retake two times a major exam. The Daily Assessment’s Policy was that if the student missed it, he only had 24 hours to retake. The policy stays the same from last year, only that students who are late to the class can’t do the D.A. To make up the D.A., they have to come after-school. Last year tardies were a big problem, so this year if you come 3 times late, you get a “Falta Leve”.  Another new rule is that students who are picked up after 3:45 pm need to go to Dr. Rosie’s office so they are not alone. The Gum Policy is the same, chewing gum is not allowed in the classrooms. This year some teachers asked their students to have their shirt tucked in, but some teachers don’t. Most students leave their bags on the floor or on the top of the locker, you are breaking a rule students! Dr. Rosie sent an email saying that bags need to be inside the lockers. Now, the new rule that has students furious is the Phone Policy. All students need to have their phones inside their lockers except the seniors that can have them in their bags. Remember, not following the rules can get you in trouble!

Sweet Begining to School

On Friday August 28th The PTSA (Parent Teacher Student Association) decided to do the first fundraising of the year. Students were very excited about the “Bake Sale” because they got to eat some things that they don't taste frequently. This event was located next to the old cafeteria in the tunnel towards the field.

Everything in the bake sale went great because the students were behaving a lot better that the past years. Also everything was organized by individual sections for each food or drink. Between the things they had sold in the past years some were new. For example: they added arepas and hotdogs to what they sold. In total they sold a lot of things like: Capitas, tequeños, hot dogs, arepas, and papelon con limon. Even so students were stunned by the price increase, because of the economic situation and constant increment of the prices in the country. PTSA did not had the enough sales and consequently did not receive the amount of money that they were hoping for, so they are looking forward to raise more funds next time.

Greetings to a New Beginning in School

On September 1st was the “Back to school night” with all parents and teachers from the whole school! It ended up great even when some parents were in a rush going from teacher to teacher. This event ended up being the most crowded of back to school activities. Like in the previous years parents got the opportunity to hear what the teachers are going to do throughout the year and the new rules of the school.

As always “Back to school night” started with the speech from the principal about the school rules and what they expected this year. After parents had received a list of the student’s classes and teachers, parents could go to each class individually. There they received an explanation of the class, what teachers are going to teach and what they have been doing to start the year, the way students are going to be graded for the evaluations and what is expected from the kids . However the Elementary Parents went to the class that their daughter/son was in and got information about the subjects that all the students have for the year, and also the learning standards they are trying to achieve.

Although, some parents were very frustrated because if they have more than two kids, they had to be in a rush between different classes and teachers. That's why in the halls they commented that they preferred this event to be split in two, a day for Elementary and other day for Middle and High School, or at least start at a earlier time. In spite of that, Back to School Night was a big success because there were amazing activities to help old and new parents to get in touch with the EBV teachers and welcoming them to EBV!
