Islamists die of neglect in Egyptian Jails

The story of Mohammad al-Falahgi who died in and Egyptian Prison.

According to reuters.com prisons in Egypt or not giving criminals the care they need to survive. These prisoners have suffered what people call “death by neglect”. One of the criminals who is believed to have died of neglect or poor attention in an Egyptian jail was Mohammad al-Falaghgi. Falahgi had diabetes and liver cirrhosis. In his time in jail he confirmed to his wife that twenty people were living on the amount of food needed for two.  When Falahgi started having trouble urinating and severe abdominal pain he was taken to the hospital. But spent very little time there; not enough for treatment and taken away almost immediately. Umm Ammar, Falahgi’s wife says he was taken to the hospital five times between March and May 2015, but never given the treatment he needed. Meanwhile his kidney and liver were deteriorating. On April 8 he was moved to a hospital with X-rays as a specialty. But after only thirty minutes with a doctor and being told he had stones in his left kidney and inflammation in his right, he was taken back to prison. On May 20th he told his wife that the Aazhar Hospital in Damietta didn’t want to accept him even though the doctor demanded that they did. Finally he was hospitalized but on the 5th day he died. So what do you think: are these prisoners receiving the proper treatment they need, or are they “dying of neglect”?
